Two performers explore themes of belonging, intergenerational memory, and kinship through an introspective, emotive world in this multi-dimensional contemporary dance work.
A collaboration between Belle Spirale Dance Projects and Blackout Art Society, directed and envisioned by Alexis Fletcher, complemented by Sylvain Senez's dramaturgy and visual design. Collaborators and performers, Lazaro Silva and Juan Duarte, beautifully translate lineage and memory into their dance.

Alexis Fletcher
Choreographer/Co-Artistic Director, Belle Spirale Dance Projects
A dance artist, creator, and producer, I have danced with Ballet BC for 14 years and subsequently have been a guest artist and Artist in Residence. Now independent, I hold the position of Artist in Residence
at Vancouver’s Chutzpah! Festival and am a Creative Hub member at Presentation House Theatre. My creations have been supported by Dance Victoria, Ballet BC, Canada Council for the Arts, and BC Arts Council, Presentation House Theatre, New Works, Vernon Performing Arts Centre, The Gordon Smith Foundation, Dancing on the Edge, InFrinGing Festival, and Shadbolt Centre.
As a freelancer, I currently dance with Re: Naissance Opera, Zoe | Juniper, and Wen Wei Dance.
I am the Co-Artistic Director of Belle Spirale Dance Projects with my husband and creative partner Sylvain Senez. Our company creates powerful, interdisciplinary contemporary dance works for the main stage,
commissions original works from emerging and established choreographers, and produces The Dance Deck. This annual multi-disciplinary performance series is presented in our backyard.
I am fascinated by how exploring the movement potential of the human body becomes a way of accessing the inner landscapes of our spirits and psyches, and this is the primary motivation behind my physical practice and choreographic interests. Dance is a unique vehicle to share, research, and discuss our humanity and a powerful and distinct tool for communication and connection.
